Marie Blake ATC SGFA

 

Marie was born in 1938 and has painted since childhood winning awards at the Royal Drawing Society's Children's Art Exhibitions at the Guildhall, London.

In 1958 she gained her National Diploma in Art following four years study at Kingston on Thames School of Art

Marie qualified as an art teacher in 1959 at the Central College London University and spent the next years teaching Art in mainstream education. During this period she also married and raised a family.

In 1984, together with her husband Charles Smith, she set up the Lyme Regis painting Workshops for residential students, which ran successfully for fifteen years

Marie has written regularly for "Leisure Painter" Magazine 1988 to 2006 and" Artist and Illustrator" 1996.

Marie is the author of "You Can Paint Pastels", Harper Collins UK 2000:which is also published by Watson Guptill, New York 2000, Editions Fleurus, Paris 2001; AST Publishers Moscow 2003 and Penerbit Erlangga Indonesia 2006.

Marie has exhibited regularly throughout the years with open exhibitions and in the galleries of her local area of Dorset, Somerset and Devon.

Marie has exhibited with The Royal Institute of Oil Painters. 1983,

The Royal Society of Marine Artists. 1983 to 1988,

The New English Art Club 1985,

as an elected member of The Society of Women Artists 1987 to 1997,

NYAD at the DFN Gallery, New York 2000,

and with The Society of Graphic Fine Art 2003 -
